bella stargirl....

bella likes stars....bella can say "stars"....therefore she is a star...if you wanna get technical, she would be "the second star to the right"....

the yellow flannel is from the grandma mae stash...the felt is from the felt stash. so the cost is pennies...

this has been a beautiful excersize in not procrastinating, and what that feels like. thank you for sharing it with me....

gorgeous....

now...what does bastian want to be????

fredder pan

fred has been watching peter pan most of this year....so what better for his halloween costume???
came up with the idea last night....costume completed today...two months early...i am doing SOMETHING right.
and i really did do pretty good. i am proud of myself anyway. a rare thing....

using my dress pattern and pants pattern, the rest was off the top of my head, especially the hat, which i am ever so amazed by....

felt....50c for a HUGE stash last year at 127 garage sales

green shiny fabric from the grandma mae stash....free

dancing with the manic bits.....

it's 1:40am....i didn't think i would do THIS again, after my 12 hours+ sleep this weekend...(altogether)....

ah well...in the past hour i have

  • looked up blah and blah on etsy

  • thought to look for halloween costumes for the littles (and to ask bastian what he wants soon)

  • looked up costumes for the littles in about a million places

  • decided on peter pan for fred

  • put a $17.95 +$6.00 shipping peter pan costume on my ebay watch list

  • went to the kitchen and cut out, from my green fabric from the grandma mae stash, the peter pan costume pants for fred, and from my felt stash, the hat....just gotta do the top before the end of october...i think i can manage it..

  • cut out bella's wool soaker pants from that sweater i bought, but it is too small, so i am gonna make a wool jumper instead, with legwarmers....

  • cut out bella's green/flower pants from the 25c pants from the garage sale day

all of this is on deck for sewing first thing tomorrow. i find that works.....

for what did i just do this week, if not sew my way out of a dark abyss....

i am going to have to learn to embrace the bipo if i am ever going to get happy...

or do i get happy and embrace the bipo????

both!

goodnight! :)

how i spent sunday....

i spent saturday cleaning...kinda ....

today i decided to not let the sun set on these two owls i need to do.

the first one is for fairygoddessdaughter nynaeve (nenn-uh-vee)....it was her birthday LAST sunday, so i am a tadbit behind.... i really love the materials in this one, but it didn't photograph half as cute as it is...i REALLY need some lessons in how to use my camera better....

front:

back:

the "wing" fabric was a frock coat to a little dress bella had of the same material...saving the dress for the grandbabies....

the next was supposed to be for fairygoddessson haven, but try telling that to fred! so i guess it is for fred....he won't let go of it, anyway.... it did not photograph well at all, but the draw on this one is that it is SOOOOFT....lots of soft, almost velvet, fabrics....

guess i will have to find something else for havie....gonna have to get these in the mail next friday.....

how i spent wednesday and thursday.....Pants-a-palooza

i made pants. lots of pants.

i made fred a pair of "tool time pants" from the grandma mae stash and the elastic i used for all of these came from walmart clearance.....all of it for under $2.00....and ihave enough left for another pair of pants for either kid.

fred wearing the tool time pants....

close-up of the tooltime fabric....

i fixed up the elastic that i had put in incorrectly in his "birthday jammies"...it was too big so i tightened it up a bit....the fabric is vintage-y cowboys on horseback. fred LOVES "coreseys".....

and a close-up of the "corsey pants" fabric...

then i made both kiddies a pair of "animal" pants, with more fabric from the grandma mae stash....bella is in quite the "ammm-ull" stage and so i thought this would be cute....
twinsies in the animal pants....

close-up of the animal fabric...

i found, a couple months ago, at goodwill, a bit of pink flannel with stars on it, that seemed as though someone had mended it along the edges to make a baby blanket or something. i had sewn bella a little smock jama top and pants with it, but hadn't done the waistband....(waistbands are the new bobbin thread grrrrr....) then, last week, i found the blue flannel version for fred. score! both panels were 99 cents each....
startwins in lurve....

this is the BEFORE picture...i also finished my mending (that had been in a pile for MONTHS omg)...and i have some blue corduroy experiments in the making....

best short film i have ever seen...

a repost from january...i just stumbled upon it in the archives and must share it again....so awesome...

EMBRYO rus from illuzia.net on Vimeo.

how i spent tuesday morning/afternoon...

i got this fabric in colorado, for (i think) $1.29 as a remnant. the pink lining is from the grandma mae stash....
first time i made a dress with lining (i made the same pattern twice and did the rest off the top of my head. i think, even with the tiny bit of extra work i will do this from now on...it really feels more substantial and put together better.
this is the first in a series of two that i had cut out a couple of weeks ago for sewing later. i liked that too, that i had the pieces cut out and waiting for me to get the whim to sew again (and the time and quietude)...
they are for her birthday presents in november. once again..."try them on now put them away fashions" haha...

brown corduroy with paisley and flowers and gorgeousness....

pink liner... (soooooo close to being reversable...i MUST learn how to do that (i think it could be done by some sort of "strip down the sides, around the bottom hem, and on the shoulders? yes! that is how i will do it!)

and the (somewhat reluctant today...) little model....(bastian is off to the side bribing her to stand up with a cookie...can you tell?! haha)

(fred is now wearing the tights........)

how to spend a monday afternoon....

1. buy a vintage bedsheet at the thrift for 99cents.....last wednesday.

2. cut out pattern for little smock top and shortie shorts...

3. sew together.

4. wrangle bellaluna into outfit.

5. take pictures of the beautiful goodness, reveling in your new, actual pattern for smocks and shorts....
